L\u2019objectif est de mieux comprendre les m\u00e9canismes qui conduisent \u00e0 l\u2019arrachement de mati\u00e8re dans les machines hydrauliques et de mieux s\u00e9lectionner les mat\u00e9riaux.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dipl\u00f4m\u00e9 en 2020 de Polytech Grenoble en sp\u00e9cialit\u00e9 mat\u00e9riaux, Julien Hofmann s\u2019engage dans la Chaire Hydro\u2019like pour la r\u00e9alisation de sa th\u00e8se au <a href=\"https:\/\/simap.grenoble-inp.fr\/fr\/le-laboratoire\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SIMaP<\/a> et au <a href=\"http:\/\/www.legi.grenoble-inp.fr\/web\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">LEGI<\/a> qui a d\u00e9but\u00e9e en d\u00e9cembre 2020. La Chaire Hydro\u2019like, port\u00e9e par la Fondation Grenoble INP gr\u00e2ce au m\u00e9c\u00e9nat de General Electric, m\u00e8ne plusieurs projets de recherche avec le support de plusieurs laboratoires de Grenoble INP. Nous lui souhaitons la bienvenue&nbsp;!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Une th\u00e8se pour se sp\u00e9cialiser et obtenir un dipl\u00f4me international en lien avec l\u2019industrie<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A l\u2019occasion de son projet de fin d\u2019\u00e9tudes chez Vulkam consistant au d\u00e9veloppement de nouvelles nuances d\u2019alliages m\u00e9talliques amorphes (AMA) destin\u00e9es au march\u00e9 biom\u00e9dical, Julien a d\u00e9couvert le laboratoire SIMaP. Fort de cette exp\u00e9rience enrichissante, il a commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 rechercher une th\u00e8se afin de se sp\u00e9cialiser en m\u00e9canique des mat\u00e9riaux et d\u2019obtenir un dipl\u00f4me international en lien avec l\u2019industrie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La Chaire Hydro\u2019Like entre dans un p\u00f4le d\u2019excellence, avec une forte pr\u00e9sence dans les laboratoires et en relation avec General Electric. L\u2019objectif final est l\u2019am\u00e9lioration des performances des turbines destin\u00e9es aux barrages hydro\u00e9lectriques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Comprendre la propagation des fissures dans les aciers inoxydables utilis\u00e9s<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Les travaux de recherche de Julien vont permettre de comprendre comment s\u2019amorcent et se propagent les fissures dans deux nuances d\u2019aciers inoxydables utilis\u00e9s pour la fabrication de turbines&nbsp;: X3CrNiMo13-4 et X4CrNiMo16-5-1. In fine, la compr\u00e9hension des m\u00e9canismes d\u2019endommagement permettront de mieux s\u00e9lectionner les mat\u00e9riaux en fonctions des conditions de sollicitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Afin de soumettre les mat\u00e9riaux \u00e0 la cavitation, deux dispositifs exp\u00e9rimentaux seront utilis\u00e9s :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Un tunnel hydrodynamique, appel\u00e9 veine <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legi.grenoble-inp.fr\/web\/spip.php?article326\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">PREVERO<\/a>, pr\u00e9sent au laboratoire LEGI. Cet \u00e9quipement permet de solliciter les mat\u00e9riaux avec une vitesse d\u2019\u00e9coulement de l\u2019eau pouvant aller jusqu\u2019\u00e0 90 m\/s.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Un g\u00e9n\u00e9rateur d\u2019ondes ultrasonores, appel\u00e9 \u2018\u2019sonotrode\u2019\u2019. Cet \u00e9quipement portable permet de r\u00e9aliser des essais de cavitation de mani\u00e8re fine dans un r\u00e9servoir. La vitesse d\u2019\u00e9coulement est alors nulle.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>A la suite des essais de cavitation, les mat\u00e9riaux seront caract\u00e9ris\u00e9s de deux mani\u00e8res&nbsp;:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Pour la caract\u00e9risation de surface, on utilisera le MEB (Microscope Electronique \u00e0 Balayage) pour observer la topographie, les diff\u00e9rentes phases du mat\u00e9riau et les faci\u00e8s de rupture. La microscopie \u00e0 force atomique et la profilomtrie seront \u00e9galement utilis\u00e9es pour \u00e9tudier l\u2019endommagement de surface des \u00e9chantillons.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Pour la caract\u00e9risation en volume, c\u2019est-\u00e0-dire \u00e0 l\u2019int\u00e9rieur du mat\u00e9riau, la tomographie \u00e0 rayons X sera utilis\u00e9e. Cette technique permettra de suivre l\u2019apparition et l\u2019\u00e9volution des fissures en 3 dimensions. Ce type d\u2019observation n\u00e9cessite la conception d\u2019un dispositif exp\u00e9rimental unique dans lequel la sonotrode est mont\u00e9e sur le tomographe du laboratoire SIMaP. Ces essais \u2018\u2019in situ\u2019\u2019 seront r\u00e9alis\u00e9s, dans un second temps, \u00e0 l\u2019ESRF (European Synchrotron Radiation Facility) permettant ainsi d\u2019am\u00e9liorer la r\u00e9solution et de r\u00e9duire le temps d\u2019acquisition.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Un environnement stimulant<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La Chaire Hydro\u2019Like est un environnement stimulant. Pour Julien, c\u2019est l\u2019opportunit\u00e9 d\u2019exp\u00e9rimenter de nombreux travaux de recherche, de b\u00e9n\u00e9ficier d\u2019\u00e9quipements de pointe et de r\u00e9fl\u00e9chir \u00e0 des enjeux industriels. Il s\u2019agit \u00e9galement \u00ab&nbsp;d\u2019apporter sa pierre \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9difice&nbsp;\u00bb en contribuant d\u2019une part \u00e0 des probl\u00e9matiques industrielles et d\u2019autre part de produire de la connaissance sur le sujet acad\u00e9mique.
