Focused on cellulose, it is led by<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/julien-bras-5592505b\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong> Julien Bras<\/strong>,<\/a> professor at <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/pagora.grenoble-inp.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Grenoble INP \u2013 Pagora, UGA<\/a><\/strong>, and a researcher at <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/lgp2.grenoble-inp.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">LGP2*<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When it comes to cellulose, Julien Bras knows his stuff! A graduate of<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ensiacet.fr\/fr\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>' ENSIACET<\/strong><\/a>, the chemical engineering school at<a href=\"https:\/\/www.inp-toulouse.fr\/fr\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>' Toulouse INP<\/strong><\/a>, he wrote his thesis at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ensiacet.fr\/fr\/la-recherche\/laboratoires-et-plateformes\/le-lca.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>LCA<\/strong><\/a>, in collaboration with<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ahlstrom.com\/fr\/ahlstrom-france\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> <strong>Ahlstrom<\/strong><\/a>, on the development of new bio-based packaging made from parchment paper and cellulose derivatives. He was then hired by Ahlstrom as Innovation Manager and sent to Normandy to develop a specific type of paper for sites in Finland, Italy, and France.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2006, Julien Bras became an associate professor at Grenoble INP \u2013 Pagora, UGA, and a researcher at LGP2*, where he focused specifically on advances in the field of biomaterials and functional paper. His research has resulted in the publication of more than 180 articles and 15 patents. He received numerous awards and honors over the course of those 13 years (junior member of the Institut universitaire de France, the IMT Hope Prize from the French Academy of Sciences, the International Award from the Nanotechnology Division of TAPPI, etc.), before moving to Switzerland for two years to work at Nestl\u00e9 Research, where he helped establish an institute dedicated to packaging science. Armed with this new experience in the industrial sector, Julien Bras returned to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.grenoble-inp.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Grenoble INP<\/a> <\/strong>with a wealth of project ideas. Among these are the development of the School\u2019s international relations and the establishment of an international master\u2019s program in biorefinery and biomaterials, as well as the creation of a Chair of Industrial Excellence, led by Grenoble INP and dedicated to cellulose!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Named <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/fondation-grenoble-inp.fr\/en\/nos-actions\/cellulose-valley\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cellulose Valley<\/a> <\/strong>, this new chair is supported by several partner companies: <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dssmith.com\/fr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">DS Smith<\/a> <\/strong>(a manufacturer of sustainable packaging solutions), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ahlstrom.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Ahlstrom <\/strong><\/a>(one of the world leaders in sustainable and innovative fiber-based solutions) <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.groupeguillin.fr\/alphaform\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Alphaform<\/a>, <\/strong>a subsidiary of<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.groupeguillin.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Groupe Guillin<\/a> <\/strong>(manufacturer of responsible food packaging solutions), and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.citeo.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CITEO<\/a>,<\/strong> , a social enterprise working to reduce the environmental impact of packaging and paper. \u201cThe goal is to develop new cellulose-based packaging as an alternative to plastics,\u201d explains Julien Bras, holder of the chair. \u201cWe already plan to fund two master\u2019s theses, two postdoctoral fellowships, and about twenty internships for master\u2019s students.\u201d Stay tuned!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b5Laboratory of process engineering for biorefinery, bio-based materials and functional printing \/ CNRS \/ UGA \/ Grenoble INP - UGA<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Une nouvelle chaire d&rsquo;excellence industrielle port\u00e9e par la Fondation Grenoble INP a \u00e9t\u00e9 lanc\u00e9e.
