The Cellulose Valley Chair<\/a> sparked the curiosity of attendees at the 10th edition of the Pint of Science<\/a>. By offering a glimpse into the future of packaging, the Chair highlighted the need to transform our consumption and production habits to build a more sustainable world.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

A festival dedicated to science communication<\/h2>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t

Pint of Science 2023, an international science outreach event, took place from May 22 to 24 in 400 cities across 25 countries, drawing a total of 90,000 participants. In France, the festival was held in 50 cities, attracting more than 9,000 curious, knowledge-hungry attendees. The goal of this event is to make scientific research accessible to the general public.<\/p>

In Grenoble, the Cellulose Valley Chair, supported by the Grenoble INP Foundation<\/a><\/strong>, took part in the festival. The three days of festivities featured events at seven bars across the city, each hosting a different theme each evening. The event presented by the Cellulose Valley Chair, titled \u201cCellulose Valley: Reinventing Packaging,\u201d captivated a diverse audience, ranging from young students to specialists in the packaging industry.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Julien Bras<\/a><\/strong>, the chairholder, kicked off the event by outlining the challenges facing today\u2019s packaging. After a fun break featuring a general knowledge quiz, Julia Pescheux-Sergienko<\/a><\/strong>, an engineering student in the Chair, took the floor to present new solutions being explored for the packaging of the future. Indeed, in response to environmental challenges, Cellulose Valley is exploring sustainable alternatives by using cellulose\u2014a material widely available in nature\u2014to create more environmentally friendly packaging. This presentation was followed by a Q&A session, during which the audience could ask questions ranging from simple curiosity to more technical inquiries about the chemical behavior of materials.<\/p>

In short, the conference organized by the Cellulose Valley Chair at Pint of Science 2023 fostered a fruitful dialogue with the audience in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The ongoing research was highlighted, and it served as an opportunity to demonstrate that the challenges facing our planet can be addressed through science and innovation.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

\u201cI really enjoyed this event and interacting with the audience. I\u2019d never had the chance to explain my research topic to a general audience before, and I found the experience very interesting. It helps put what we do into context and showcases our expertise.
