This question lies at the heart of today\u2019s industrial transformations. As companies accelerate their transition to Industry 5.0, skill requirements are changing rapidly, and training organizations must develop new approaches to support people who are distant from the labor market. This vision is based on three complementary pillars: a human-centered approach, environmental sustainability, and organizational resilience.<\/p><p>In this context, the issue of training becomes essential. Companies need not only engineers and technicians, but also operators capable of interacting with connected production environments, collaborative robots, augmented reality tools, and digital production control systems. However, few programs today are designed to support individuals without prior industrial experience.<\/p><p>To address this challenge, researchers developed and tested a new educational model based on the <strong>Learning Factory concept<\/strong>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-2b7e619 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"2b7e619\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-row\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-e3412fe\" data-id=\"e3412fe\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-96cb8a0 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"96cb8a0\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-text-editor elementor-clearfix\">\n\t\t\t\t<h2><strong>A training facility where learning happens through hands-on experience<\/strong><\/h2>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-dc8befa elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"dc8befa\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-text-editor elementor-clearfix\">\n\t\t\t\t<p>The project was carried out in partnership with<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.udimec.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">' UDIMEC<\/a><\/strong>\u2019s Is\u00e8re Training Center at a vocational training center serving individuals undergoing career transition or seeking employment. Nine participants with diverse backgrounds took part in an experimental program designed to prepare them for future careers as assembly line operators in an Industry 5.0 environment.<\/p><p>The training program is based on a Learning Factory, an educational environment that replicates the real-world conditions of a smart factory. There, trainees gain hands-on experience with collaborative robots, automated material-handling systems, virtual and augmented reality technologies, autonomous mobile robots, and digital production management tools.<\/p><p>The goal is to promote experiential learning. The program alternated between exploratory sessions, virtual reality experiences, technology demonstrations, group discussions, and operational simulations.<\/p><p>Three main challenges shaped the experience:<\/p><ul><li>identify the technologies used in the educational facility and understand their applications;<\/li><li>use augmented reality to access technical information at workstations;<\/li><li>fulfill a customer order by organizing collaborative production on a connected assembly line.<\/li><\/ul><p>This approach combines knowledge acquisition, the development of technical skills, and the strengthening of behavioral skills such as communication, teamwork, and adapting to change.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-7f0e812 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"7f0e812\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-row\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-43e70bc\" data-id=\"43e70bc\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3941e95 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"3941e95\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-text-editor elementor-clearfix\">\n\t\t\t\t<h2><strong>Encouraging results<\/strong><\/h2>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-766c58b elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"766c58b\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-row\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-985152a\" data-id=\"985152a\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c59680f elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"c59680f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-text-editor elementor-clearfix\">\n\t\t\t\t<p>The results of this pilot study show positive trends across several assessed dimensions: understanding of concepts related to Industry 5.0, development of operational skills, and participant satisfaction.<\/p><p>In particular, the learners demonstrated a good understanding of the interactions between digital technologies and production activities. The immersive activities and role-playing exercises were especially appreciated for their practical and engaging nature. The challenge of managing a customer order in a real-world environment was identified as the most useful exercise for promoting learning.<\/p><p>Beyond the educational outcomes, this pilot project demonstrates that it is possible to effectively guide people with no industrial experience toward discovering the jobs of the future.
