The new edition of the MOOC “Electric Grids: Challenges & Transition” will be launched on May 5, 2026 by Grenoble INP – Ense3, UGA, G2Elab*, and the Smartgrids Chair, supported by Grenoble INP Foundation thanks to sponsorship fromEnedisThis free online course, available in French and English, is designed for anyone who wants to better understand how power grids work and the challenges of the energy transition.
A comprehensive course on electrical power systems
Over the course of 5 weeks (approximately 3 hours per week), this MOOC offers a comprehensive overview of electrical grids and the changes associated with the energy transition. Participants will have the opportunity to explore:
The fundamentals of electrical power systems, their architecture, and their organization.
The Architecture of Electric Power Grids
The Integration of Renewable Energy
The drivers of flexibility and efficiency
The MOOC combines short videos led by experts from various partner organizations, quizzes and educational activities to assess learning, as well as an interactive forum for discussing topics with the teaching team and other participants. Upon completion of the course, a certificate of completion is issued.
This new edition highlights the contemporary challenges facing electric grids, including resilience in the face of widespread electrification, the transition to renewable energy sources, energy efficiency, and public participation in the energy transition. It helps readers understand how electric grids are evolving to address today’s technological, environmental, and societal challenges.
