Research focus : Regenerative tourism and innovation in economic models
Description :
Consider new economic models for Destination Management Organisations (DMOs) that are less dependent on public subsidies and less guided by volume-based logic, whose hidden costs have a social and environmental impact on local areas.
Consider new roles for OGDs: trusted third party, interface between the public and private sectors, integrator/catalyst for cooperation rooted in its territory.
Consider new models of destination governance that take into account all stakeholders impacted by tourism activities.
Objective: Explore how to reconcile the economic viability of Destination Management Organisations (DMOs) with the environmental and social challenges facing their region.
