Encouraging women to pursue careers in the industry of the future
This initiative is part of a shared commitment to promoting gender diversity in the scientific, technological, and industrial sectors by supporting young women as they explore careers in engineering and technical fields.
Aimed at middle school, high school, and college-aged women, the event is designed to introduce them to the careers of the industry of the future, the economic, environmental, and digital challenges shaping it, as well as the technological innovations that will shape the world of tomorrow. At a time when industry must reinvent itself to meet climate and technological challenges, this initiative plays a key role in raising awareness among younger generations about the opportunities offered by Industry 4.0, which brings new, innovative, attractive, and meaningful careers.
A hands-on look at the industrial technologies of tomorrow
On this occasion, the team from the the ' Industry 4.h Chair offered a two-part interactive workshop.
The first part of the program allowed the participants to visit the S.mart platform, located within the G-SCOP laboratory of Grenoble INP – Génie Industriel, UGA. This hands-on immersion provided them with a realistic view of today’s industry, through the exploration of modern production lines, advanced manufacturing machines, robots and cobots, as well as applications of artificial intelligence, augmented and virtual reality, and innovative solutions for the industry of the future. Thanks to these emerging technologies, the professions of engineer and technician are now seen as modern, evolving, and fully engaged in industrial and environmental transitions.
Learning in a Different Way Through Play and Interaction
The second part of the workshop focused on collaborative serious games « Unlocking Industry 4.h », centered on Industry 4.0 and smart factories. Designed as a fun and interactive experience, this activity allowed participants to better understand the challenges of industrial transformation, discover new career paths, and gain an accessible, immersive look into the world of the industry of the future.
This event highlights the importance of building bridges between academia, research, and industry, while actively promoting the role of women in the industrial and technological sectors. Through initiatives like this, the ' Industry 4.h Chair plays an active role in making these professions more visible, more attractive, and more inclusive for future generations.
