Grenoble City Hub – Promouvoir la fabrication numérique et durable

To support the promotion of digital and sustainable manufacturing, in particular Industry 5.0, the Industry 4.h Chair organized - in collaboration with the YML (Young Manufacturing Leaders) network and the ANR - a week of activities dedicated to engineering students specializing in mechanical, sustainable and industrial engineering.

This initiative, called “A Week on Industrial Transition”, took place from November 18 to 24, 2024 at Grenoble INP – Génie industriel, UGA. During the week, 25 international students from 18 countries, all part of the FutureProd Graduate School, explored key themes shaping Industry 4.0 and 5.0 — including emerging technologies, data literacy, and artificial intelligence.

Several experts contributed to this enriching experience:
Andreas Riel introduced the concepts of Industry 4.0 and 5.0;
Ikram Ahidar focused on the evolving skills and competences required in the digital era;
Martina Flatscher shared insights into the role of artificial intelligence;
Lara Pörtner presented on data management challenges and strategies.

Laure Dousset and Jessica Dooryhée, who co-developed the serious game highlighting human-centered technologies and human-machine collaboration, put it to the test with the students, who participated with great enthusiasm.

Throughout the week, the participants engaged in debates, solved real-life case studies, and took part in group challenges. The interactive and gamified approach was highly appreciated and allowed students to deepen their understanding of the skills and technologies essential to succeed in Industry 4.0 and 5.0.

These students, all aged over 22, share the values of the YML Network — as passionate advocates and future leaders in sustainable and digital manufacturing.
