As part of the fun training project led by ' Industry 4.h Chair, students enrolled in the professional bachelor's degree programme in Cnam des Alpes took part, on 4 July 2025, in an immersive session focused on the serious game dedicated to Industry 4.0 developed within the Chair.
Exchange, debate and understand industrial transformations
The session began with a discussion, allowing participants to reflect on developments in industrial professions, the challenges of digitalisation, and how Industry 4.0 technologies are transforming the daily lives of operators, technicians and managers.
This discussion provided an opportunity to compare perceptions, personal experiences and expectations, while paving the way for questions related to the human, organisational and environmental impact of new technologies.
Building your own smart factory
A second, more practical phase invited learners to design and configure their own ‘smart factory’. They had to integrate technological choices, as well as organisational and human choices, reflecting the challenges of a more connected, agile and responsible industry. This scenario provided a concrete illustration of how decisions influence performance, safety, quality of life at work and environmental impact.
Active teaching methods for a different way of learning
This innovative approach gave students a way to experiment with key concepts of the industry of the future, beyond theoretical contributions. Serious gaming promotes experiential learning, stimulates peer collaboration and develops strategic thinking, three essential skills for thriving in an industry undergoing rapid change.
